You’ll join the crew of Era Adventures down in Newquay, Cornwall for the 6 day ISA Level 1 course and SLSGB Surf Coach Safety and Rescue – a mixture of practical skills and classroom theory where you’ll gain the skills needed to be a confident and confident coach.
This ISA (International Surf Association) certification is the most widely accepted surf instructor award and when combined with a valid lifeguarding certificate and combined with the SLSGB Surf Coach Safety and Rescue certificate alongside completing your 20 hours work experience* it allows you to work as a surf coach and at surf schools all over the world!
The ISA Level 1 is the minimum requirement and industry standard to work as a surf instructor in a surf school, surf camp, club or college.
It’s the first stage to living the dream!
PLEASE NOTE: In order to jump straight into the Surf Instructor course, you need the essential surf skills and fitness levels to gain the qualification. You must be able to paddle out back and duck dive when needed, pop-up consistently on green waves and perform basic manoeuvres, turning both left and right
*your 20 hours coaching experience is not included in this course but it’s possible for us to arrange for you after your qualify

After taking this course, you will need to gain 20 hours surf coach shaddowing experience (equal to about 10 surf lessons).

The membership to ISA will be valid for a year, after this you will need to pay your annual membership directly to ISA.
