Surf Camps

SURF CAMPS WORLDWIDE

The best surf camps on the planet.

Hand-picked by our team.

A surf camp is the most direct path into surfing — warm water, expert coaching, consistent waves and a group of like-minded people around you from day one.

Whether you’re picking up a board for the first time or pushing your surfing to the next level, the right camp in the right destination makes all the difference. Here’s our global edit, personally vetted by a team that’s surfed every destination on this page.

The three we recommend most.

WHERE TO START

Not sure which destination is right for you?

The destination matters as much as the camp. Different locations suit different levels, different travel styles and different times of year.

Here’s our honest breakdown of the best surf camp destinations in the world and what makes each one worth the journey.

SRI LANKA

Warm water, forgiving waves and the fastest learning curve in Asia.

Sri Lanka is our top recommendation for anyone learning to surf — or looking to progress quickly.

The south coast delivers consistent, forgiving waves over sandy and reef bottoms, the water is warm year-round, and the relaxed pace of life makes it easy to focus entirely on your surfing.

The east coast adds Arugam Bay to the mix from May to October — a completely different vibe with a proper right-hand point break as its centrepiece.

BALI & INDONESIA

The Island of the Gods. A wave for every level.

Bali is one of those destinations that works for everyone — complete beginners learning in the forgiving beach breaks of Canggu, intermediates stepping up to reef breaks at Uluwatu and Padang Padang, and advanced surfers chasing proper barrels across Bali, Lombok and beyond.

The water is warm, the waves are consistent from May to September, and the surf culture is unlike anywhere else on earth.

AUSTRALIA

The East Coast. One of the world’s great places to learn.

Australia’s East Coast delivers year-round surf, warm water and some of the most accessible beach breaks on the planet.

Byron Bay is the obvious starting point — consistent, social and well-organised — but Spot X and the broader NSW coast reward surfers who want a bit more space and a bit less crowd.

Our team is based here and knows these breaks personally.

MOROCCO

Atlantic swells, immersive culture and the perfect winter getaway.

Morocco is one of Europe’s most accessible surf destinations — a short flight from the UK and most of Europe, consistent Atlantic swells during the winter and a surf scene centred around Taghazout and the surrounding breaks.

A brilliant option for beginners wanting their first surf camp experience without the long-haul flight.

PHILIPPINES

Siargao. Southeast Asia’s surf island.

Siargao has earned its reputation as one of Southeast Asia’s finest surf destinations — Cloud 9 is a world-class reef break and the island’s relaxed, coconut-lined atmosphere makes it one of the most enjoyable places to spend time in the water.

A bit of extra travel time, but well worth it to reach paradise.

CENTRAL AMERICA

Consistent swells. Warm water. Still under the radar.

Central America delivers consistent groundswells, warm water year-round and a coastline that’s still well under the radar compared to Indo or the Maldives.

El Salvador is the most underrated of the three — the WSL has been running events at Punta Roca for years and the country is finally getting the attention it deserves.

Nicaragua sits just south with consistent beach breaks centred around San Juan del Sur, with breaks for every level.

PORTUGAL

World-class Atlantic surf on Europe’s doorstep.

Portugal delivers some of the best surf in Europe — Peniche and Ericeira are both world surf reserve locations with a density of quality breaks that rivals anywhere on the continent.

A summer season camp here makes a perfect European surf holiday, accessible and high quality.

WANT TO STAY LONGER?

Turn weeks into months.

Surfing into a qualification.

If a week at a surf camp has given you the bug, our longer programmes and instructor courses take things to the next level — structured progression over weeks rather than days, and the option to come home with an internationally recognised qualification.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

“The team at Stoked were super helpful in finding the perfect surf camp for me in Sri Lanka. They kept communication open whenever I had any questions, even after booking and paying, and were generally a really kind bunch. I would highly recommend speaking to them to arrange your next surf camp.
