With 5 cabins, all with 1 double and 1 single bunk, all kitted out with ensuite and A/C it’s the perfect private surf charter boat – big enough for a group a surf friends (max 10-12 guests) and intimate enough for a tropical surfing couples escape!
Owned and operated by Shaun Levings (who’s been in the surf travel industry since 1993) and General Zuhair (retired Army General and head of the Coast Guard) you’ll be in good hands throughout your stay on the Handhu with the Island Hop Maldives Team.

The Handhu surf charter boasts 3 decks – so there’s plenty of space to chill out and relax between surf sessions, including a spacious sun lounging deck which is perfect for topping up your tan or checking the waves.
The Aft deck is also setup for big game fishing – so whilst you’re travelling between surf breaks get the lines out and see if you can rustle up some fresh fish for the BBQ!
And talking of food – all your on board meals will be prepared by Chef Gopal who’s range of curries, local Maldivian delicacies and of course sashimi skills will make sure you’re always well fuelled.
Whether you want lefts, rights, A frame, reef, points or anything in-between this country is blessed with a variety to suit all styles and surfing abilities.
Choose from either an 8 or 11 night charter depending on your time frame and budget – with the 11 night option opening up the Central Atolls as well.
Day 1: Arrive Malè late night & transferred to Handhu in HulaMale Harbour for overnight sleep.
Day 2: Depart harbour at dawn and be at surf within 2 hours.
Days 2-8: 7 full surf days all over the Nth & Sth Malè atolls.
Day 9: Surf in the morning and delivery to Malè’ airport 2 hours prior to flight departure time.
DAY 1: Arrive Malè late night & transferred to Handhu in HulaMale Harbour for overnight sleep.
DAY 2: Depart harbour at dawn and be at surf within 2 hours.
DAY 2- 11 : 10 full surf days all over the Malè & Central atolls or Malè and Northern Atolls (conditions dependant). Note any major crossings will be done at night (weather permitting), so you don’t lose surf time:
DAY 12: Surf in the morning back in Malè atolls and delivery to Malè’ airport 2 hours prior to flight departure time. * dinner is not provided on final day.

I’ve been to the Maldives a few times now and stayed in resorts I think this is by far my favourite way to experience the Maldives, I got to surf plenty of different locations and snorkel in incredible places and explore some islands I haven’t been on before, the Island hop crew were awesome and the food was 10 out of 10 every meal. I would love to do it again one day.
Our week on the Handhu was memorable. Amazing service, delicious 3 meals a day, super friendly and smiling crew, surf guiding on point. I can’t wait to come back !!!
What an amazing way to explore the beautiful Maldives. I had the best experience on board the Handhu. The Island Hop crew were 10/10 and every meal was delicious! Plenty of activities for the less confident surfers who enjoy some relaxation/adventuring. Beautiful deck lounge to enjoy a good book or a sneaky bev. Plenty of opportunity for snorkelling, paddle boarding and for exploring the gorgeous surrounding Islands. Very sad that our time on board has come to an end. Hope to be back again next year.
Love everything about it. Had the best time with the best people. Food and staff are epic. I miss everyone already. Can’t wait to go back! One of my favourite and most memorable trips ever.
