Veli Left is a very quick barrelling left hander which you can access directly from Veli island. It is always a quick take off, followed by either pulling into the barrel or racing most of the wave face. It will start working at 1m and hold up to 2.5m. Best left to advanced surfers due to the shallow reef.
Nonyas (Quarters) is one of the most consistent waves closest to Anantara Veli and is located on the outer reef of the Anantara atoll. It is a relatively mellow right hander and shortboarders and longboarders alike love the wave. During 1.5m+ swells, the end section starts to deliver a quick barrel. Most days, it’s surfable for beginners to advanced surfers.
From peak rights like Riptides or punchy lefts like Boatyards you can jump on a boat ride to plenty of other waves in the area too. You can even venture further afield to the North Malé Atoll for the day too and hit up spots Sultans, Jailbreaks and Cokes too.
