Most nationalities can get a free 30 day visa on arrival in Indonesia, with the option to get a paid via on arrival which is extendable to 60 days.
So if you’re doing the full 12 week course you will need to either obtain a Social Visa (which can cover you for up to 6 months) before arriving or do a visa run to cover your full stay.
The course itinerary is structured to allow for a “visa run” either from Bali after your stay in Red Island or during your time on Lombok.
Visas and visa runs aren’t included in the course, but chat to our travel experts and we can advise you on some options – it’s easy enough to sort out.
Time to get everything started! You’ll be met at the airport by the team before heading to the Canggu Surf Camp to meet your new surf buddies and settle in to Bali life.
Your first 2 weeks will be spent at the epic Canggu Surf Camp, where you’ll get your training underway nailing the basics. The camp itself is situated in the heart of Canggu, an easy walk to the beach, bars and restaurants. Your instructors will assess your surfing ability and you’ll begin work on ironing out any bad habits and getting the essentials from popping to paddling all dialled in.
After a couple weeks in Canggu it’s time to head over to our favourite stop of the course – Red Island in Java. Here you’ll find empty beaches and the perfect beach break to push your surfing skills. Dont expect any crowds here, just a few friendly locals in the lineup!
The Red Island Surf Camp is a stones throw from the ocean and you can easily check the waves whilst you eat your brekkie on the deck, winning!
With plenty of ocean time your surf skills will quickly progress – backed up with theory lessons and surf fitness too. There are also a few days pencilled in here for a visa run if needed.
After a solid stint of eat, sleep, surf, repeat it’s time for a mini escape over to the famous Gili Trawangan, aka Gili T. Kick back with some awesome islands vibes, snorkel with turtles, scuba dive or party the night away!
Rest those tired surf arms for a few days before heading over to your next wave fuelled destination…
And it’s not Nusa Lembongan – where you can put your surf skills to the test on the fun reef breaks of Playgrounds and Lacerations. This awesome island has some of the best sunsets in Indonesia and you can soak them in from the lineup or kick back in the surf camps infinity pool, which overlooks the ocean.
You’ll also get the chance to swim with the manta rays here too, which is always a highlight.
Now it’s crunch time! This section of the course, based back in Canggu, is where you’ll complete your certification for both the surf lifesaver and surf instructor course. It’s a pretty intense, but fun few weeks where you’ll learn more skills about teaching and of course first aid.
If you’ve put in the effort for the last few weeks you’ll sail through and get all the certifications you need to teach all over the world.
With your new qualifications under your belt it’s time to plan the next surf trip or begin your career as a surf instructor. And of course you’ll have that epic 40% off your dream Mentawais trip too!
