Indonesia boasts some truly world class surf breaks — the likes of Uluwatu and Desert Point produce long, hollow waves that are straight out of a surf movie — and it is a surfing Mecca for any wave rider, both for the waves and for the beautiful country, and locals you’ll find there, too.
Although barrels and reefs are the main attraction for advanced surfers, Indonesia also provides perfect waves for those looking to learn, as well as spots for those looking to improve their existing surf skills.
With that in mind our 8 Day Indonesia Island Hopping Surf Camp is the perfect experience for any level of surfer. Running every week, it’s a great addition to any travel plans in Indo and suitable for those looking to take their first steps (or paddles!) into the world of surfing, or for those with an intermediate or even advanced level of surfing ability.
Taking in Bali, Java and Nusa Lembongan over 8 days this moving surf camp format allows you to experience a great cross section of the waves this country offers and also see a bit more of Indonesia than you may have planned! The country is a beautiful place to explore so why stick to simply surfing in Kuta when you can combine surf and adventure in your very own surfing road trip!?
For beginners there are the easy beach breaks, allowing you to perfect your technique in the white water and enjoy easy, crumbling waves. From nailing your ‘pop’ to selecting the right wave to ride, you’ll be in great hands with our instructors and you’ll soon find yourself totally stoked!
Intermediates have a variety of spots to choose from too, and our coaches will be on hand to guide you through the rules and safety of tackling some of Indonesia’s reef breaks — an incredible experience that will give you heaps of confidence in your surfing as well as helping you refine your technique and style, especially when combined with photo and video feedback.
For those of a more advanced level there are reeling barrels, heavy reefs and all manner of spots available, depending on the swell — so whether you fancy a fun free surf or really want to push yourself, it’s all there, including photo and video feedback if you fancy tweaking anything. Who could turn down the opportunity to surf some secluded, empty breaks and even tackle the infamous G Land?!
So whether you’re new to the sport or already boasting the sun bleached hair and cutbacks of a seasoned travelling surfer, you’ll find waves, adventure and good times. Let’s face it — that’s what a solid surf trip is all about!
Start & Finish: Canggu, Bali
Time to get this surf trip started as you head up to Java, to our base in Red Island for 4 nights. Kick back with some surfing, eating, chilling and checking out this beautiful, secret surf location. Enjoy the amazing sunset with some cold beverages and have a fun night with the Red Island crew. This will be our home for the rest of the week.
This is when the ideal surf camp routine kicks in — surf, eat, sleep, repeat! Time to get some serious water in, at some of Indonesia’s most empty but perfect beaches.
Today you have the option to visit the world famous G Land on a day trip (not included), get a tour of the local village, paradise beach and turtle sanctuary, or just kick back and hang with the friendly locals. Again the aim of the game is to practice, practice, practice…and have heaps of fun too, of course!
Early breakfast and surf then transfer* back to Bali. We arrive back in Canggu around sunset for dinner and drinks.
Time to get on the move again! After an early breakfast you’ll hopefully cram in a quick surf before heading over to one of the most pristine surf and dive islands in the world, Nusa Lembongan.
Get your board loaded up for a day exploring some great surf breaks, snorkle with giant manta rays (nature permitting of course!) and continue the surfing dream! You’ll have the opportunity to give SUP a try and also test out some of the other water sports available on the island.
After spending most of the day surfing and enjoying the rest of your time on Nusa Lembongan it’s time to grab the fast boat back to Bali. You’ll arrive in time for sunset — you can grab a few drinks with your new-found surf buddies and reflect on 8 days of amazing surfing in Indonesia.
