SURFING LEVEL & PROGRESSION

Who is a late beginner surfer?

A late beginner surfer is someone who can surf and catch waves independently and should be cutting across the wave regularly (surfing the green face). A late beginner might be working on improving their wave entry, pop up and speed flow on the face of the wave.

Who is an intermediate surfer?

An intermediate surfer is someone who is cutting across the face of the wave every time. They are comfortable in head-high to overhead waves and might be working on their speed flow and manoeuvres.
By working closely together with Kale throughout the entire week, surfers will be able to identify the patterns or sub-optimal techniques holding them back and begin to optimise them for better surfing. Utilising The Surfer’s Roadmap curriculum and a fun and friendly approach, Kale will unlock years of progression in this retreat and help you build a solid surfing foundation.

Whilst on the trip, each surfing session will be filmed so that surfers’ techniques can be analysed on screen for detailed feedback. Each surfer will receive a copy of all their waves and a personalised video analysis to take home post-trip.

Sri Lanka provides one of the best training grounds for approachable ocean-based surf progression with fun waves and warm waters amongst a beautiful tropical setting.

THE ACCOMMODATION

Your base for the week will be Blue Waves Surf House in Ahangama, on the South Coast of Sri Lanka.

This beautiful oceanfront surf house sits right in front of Sion (a super fun reef break) with plenty of waves within a short tuk-tuk ride along the coast.

Enjoy tasty, nutritious local meals, relax next to the ocean and be in a great location to explore the bustling surf town of Ahangama – Blue Waves Surf House is the perfect base.
