Push your surfing to the next level with this 10-day Maldives surf coaching charter aboard Theia, hunting lineups across the Malé and Central Atolls. With Daily video analysis, world-class coaches and a max of 10 surfers, this is the way to level up your surfing in the Maldives, done properly.
If you’re looking to take your surfing to the next level in the Maldives and sample a variety of lineups to round off your skills, this surf coaching charter with the crew of Renegade is the way to go.
The concept is simple: spend 10 days aboard Theia, chasing the best and least crowded waves across the Malé and Central Atolls, with a world-class coach in the water with you every session and daily video analysis to back it up. No fixed route. No resort schedule. Wherever the swell is pointing, that’s where you go.
The Malé Atolls deliver high-quality, accessible waves — plenty of variety across a concentrated area. Head out into the Central Atolls and you’re into a different world — uncrowded reef breaks facing almost every point of the compass, meaning there’s always something firing regardless of conditions. Predominantly rights, with occasional world-class lefts thrown in when the trade winds allow.
These trips are aimed at intermediate and advancednced surfers, so you’ll be surfing with people who ride waves at a similar level to you. This isn’t a beginner trip — these are real reef breaks that reward competence — but if you’re an intermediate surfer looking to take things to the next level, this is exactly the right environment to do it.
Daily in-water coaching from Renegade’s professional coaches, combined with video analysis sessions — so you can actually see what you’re working on, not just hear about it.
The coaching format:
Renegade have been running these trips long enough to know what works. Their return rate speaks for itself — more than a third of guests come back for another trip.
Theia is a 32-metre, purpose-built surf charter boat — and one of the best in the Maldives. Four decks, eight air-conditioned cabins with en-suite bathrooms, and a roof deck that becomes the social hub of the trip between sessions.
Cabin breakdown:
Theia can sleep 20, but Renegade caps every trip at 10 surfers and 2 non-surfers — so the boat stays comfortable and the lineup stays empty.
Two things that make Theia stand out from most charter boats in the Maldives:
Two support vessels. A dinghy and a larger dhoni. The dhoni acts as a floating basecamp — anchored right next to the break and loaded with drinks, snacks, sunscreen and cameras. It also means the group can split across two spots simultaneously if conditions call for it.
Licensed for night cruising. Only a small number of boats in the Maldives can cruise after dark. For a trip covering the Central Atolls — where distances between atolls are significant — this is a genuine game changer. Wake up at a new break every morning.
