Looking for the ultimate surf adventure?
The famous Mentawai Islands in Indonesia are home to some of the most consistent and best surf in the world – so why not join the crew of Beng Bengs and live the dream of staying and surfing at a Mentawais Surf resort.
Beng Bengs Mentawai Surf Camp is nestled amongst the palm trees of Pulau Masokut Island – with surf spot Ebays just a 150m walk from the beachfront bar, so you can check the waves whilst eating your breakfast or enjoying a cold Bintang,
With A/C rooms, hot showers, and plenty of space to chill and socialise (or in-house wifi if you prefer to check Facebook instead of the waves!) you can enjoy this tropical paradise in comfort.
Within a short boat ride of this epic Mentwais surf camp are heaps of world-renowned waves – like Rifles, Bank Vaults, Pistols, and Hideaway where big, long barrels of clear blue water break over colourful coral reef – every surfers dream.
But a stay at a Mentawai surf camp isn’t just for pros – there are plenty of waves for intermediates too and spots like Burger World, Beng Bengs and Good Times offer up more forgiving waves, with long reeling walls. A good day at Burger World can see you cruising down the line for well over 150m!
A typical day at this awesome Mentawai surf camp involves breakfast around 7 am whilst checking the surf conditions, then at 8 am the two boats head off to the best waves of the day, with one boat taking more advanced surfers to the heavier waves.
Once everyone is surfed out you’ll head back to the camp for a hefty lunch to refuel and relax in the midday sun amongst the palm trees.
After a siesta on a bean bag or the hammocks, it’s time to load up the boats and head out to the waves again where you’ll surf until sunset.
Back at the camp, it’s time to crack the cold Bintangs on the deck and chill out with your new surf buddies, checking out the photos of the best waves of the day and figure out the best spots for the morning…
It really is living the surf, eat, sleep repeat dream in this Indonesian paradise – for every surfer a trip to a Mentawai surf camp is a must and the crew at Being Bengs surf camp will tick all the boxes for your ultimate surf adventure.

Best arrival day is Wednesday for the early fast ferry on Thursday (11am arrival at the camp)
The Mentawai Islands are famed for some of the best and most consistent surf breaks in the world – here are some of the spots that you’ll be a short walk or boat ride from…
Ebay – this is the surf camps home break, just 150m walk along the beach. A reeling left hander it can hold a variety of swell, even producing some barrel selections on the right conditions
Beng Beng – just a short boat trip from the camp in the next bay this left is super fun with a forgiving take off and long reeling lefts. One of our teams personal favourites.
Burger World – this long, reeling right hander is perhaps one of the most picturesque waves in the area – peeling off a beach filled with palm trees! Working in all conditions and suitable for all levels of surfer, if the wind and swell isn’t working at other spots Burger World will no doubt have a wave.
Good Times – one of the longest lefts in the area and often described as the mirror image of Burger World. When this spots working there’s plenty of space for big turns and even some cheeky cover ups.
Pit Stops – this wedgey right hander is just a 10 minute jungle or beach walk from the camp. Expect some barrel filled take off and long fun walls.
Bank Vaults – certainly one of the heavier and more advanced surf spots in the area expect big hollow barrels. It needs a bigger swell to start working, but when it does it can give you the ride of your life.
Nipussi – this fast and shallow right hander works in a variety of swell and wind making it a good alternative to Burger World. But given the right conditions this is also a super fun wave.
The Mentawai Fast Boat is a ferry which takes around 3-6 hours (depending on the day) and departs for Siberut

Easily the best surf trip I’ve ever been on and an incredible surf camp!
The crew were amazing and cold Bintangs on the deck was the perfect way to finish the day!
The best experience in mentawai
I’ve been 5 days with them and in addition to family treatment and facilities that are very well, they see that they know the area and always take you to surf the right spots depending on the conditions of the waves.
Massimo and Christian are hosts that make you feel like in your own home and family. Next year I repeat for sure.
